USF’s Nasello Selected to USWNT U-20 Roster For Pre-Qualifying Training Camp
TAMPA, Fla., Jan. 9, 2020 – University of South Florida women's soccer forward
Sydny Nasello was chosen as one of 25 participants for the United States' Women's National Team U-20 pre-qualifying training camp, USA Soccer announced. New U-20 coach Laura Harvey selected the 25-member training camp roster in preparations for upcoming championships.
"Sydny is on the path she is meant to take," head coach
Denise Schilte-Brown said. "It is a joy to be a part of her remarkable journey!"
Nasello finished her 2019 season with the Bulls with two goals and 10 assists for 14 points. She had the highest point total among those who will return to the roster in 2020. She was selected as second team American Athletic All-Conference in a season where the Bulls reached the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history.
The Land O' Lakes, Fla., native was selected to the AAC all-tournament team after assisting three of USF's four goals to win the conference tournament.
After the camp, Harvey will choose the 20-player roster for the 2020 CONCACAF Women's U-20 Championship, which runs from Feb. 15-March 1 in the Dominican Republic. The 2020 FIFA U-20 World Cup will be held in Panama and Costa Rica this August.
This is Nasello's second recent call to the USWNT program. In December, the sophomore participated in the 2019 Nike International Friendlies, where she played in games against France and Brazil.
