Former Bull Christiane Endler Named Finalist for The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper 2020

TAMPA, Dec. 11, 2020 – Former University of South Florida goalkeeper Christiane Endler was chosen as one of three finalists for The Best FIFA Women's Goalkeeper 2020 as part of FIFA's "The Best" annual awards, the organization announced on Friday. She joins France's Sarah Bouhaddi and the United States' Alyssa Naeher as the top three for the award. Last year, Endler also was a finalist for the award.

Endler is a member of the Chilean National Team and Paris Saint-Germain. She played in three games in international play during 2020, helping lead Chile to two shutouts over Ghana and Kenya en route to winning the 2020 Turkish Women's Cup.

Endler helped Paris Saint-Germain finish second in a shortened 2019-20 Division 1 Féminine season in France, which qualified the squad for the 2020-21 UEFA Women's Champions League. She played in the first game of the championship, aiding PSG's defensive efforts and earning a clean sheet in a 2-0 win in the first leg against Górnik Leczna of Poland. The second leg is scheduled for Dec. 16.

In 2019, Endler finished second for The Best FIFA Women's Goalkeeper award behind the Netherlands' Sari van Veenendaal. FIFA will announce the winner on Dec. 17.

As a Bull, Endler started all 19 games in goal for USF as a freshman in 2012 and capped off her collegiate career with American Athletic All-Conference Second Team honors in 2013. She also holds the record for lowest career goals-against average in USF women's soccer history, allowing 0.9 goals on average in her time with the Bulls.
