Bulls Win Men’s 4x400 Meter Relay Saturday at Boston University
BOSTON, MASS., FEB. 1, 2020 – The USF men's 4x400 meter relay team finished in first place and registered the fourth-fastest indoor time in school history to highlight competition Saturday at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational.
The quartet of
Maurice Nock (Sanford, Fla.),
Yohance Haynes (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.),
Monte Parker (Plantation, Fla.) and
Derwin Moultrie (Miami) turned in a time of 3:14.76 to take the title. The foursome of
Justin Peter (Tallahassee, Fla.),
Taquon Terry (Alachua, Fla.),
Luke Lafferty (Manorville, N.Y.) and Danelson Mahuetiere took fourth in the event with a time of 3:19.96.
The women's 4x400 meter relay team composed of
Destiny Fairley (Jarrell, Texas),
Maya Fabri (Pembroke Pines, Fla.),
Javonia Ellis (Lake Minneola, Fla.) and
Kristin Lubeskie (Central Valley, N.Y.) placed eighth with a time of 3:56.01.
Nock also took sixth in the 200 meters with a time of 21.93 seconds, while Mahuetiere was seventh in the event with a time of 21.95 seconds. Lafferty placed eighth overall in the event after crossing the finish line in 22.00 seconds.
Sophomore
Shaneylix Davila (Kissimmee, Fla.) raced to a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.58 seconds, and freshman
Zaria Fuller (Uniondale, N.Y) followed in eighth place with a time of 9.18. Freshman
Faith Bostick (Cocoa, Fla.) finished in sixth place in the 60 meters with a time of 7.91 seconds.
In field events, senior
Stephanie Lambeth (Frankenmuth, Mich.) third in the pole vault with a height of 12-0.50, and senior
Nicole Carroll (Land O' Lakes, Fla.) was right behind in fourth place with her height of 12-0.50. Sophomore
Karen Lyvers (Bradenton, Fla.) placed fifth in the event with a height of 11-6.50.
Junior
Imani Carmouche (Mt. Zion, Ga.) turned in a third-place showing in the high jump with a height of 5-3.75, while Fuller took sixth in the long jump with a distance of 16-8.50.
Sophomore
Melvin Briley (Jacksonville) placed eighth in the long jump with a distance of 20-10.50.
"Today was about being prepared for hard competition on day two," USF head coach
Erik Jenkins said. "We had several students compete in the same event on different days at different venues. It was nice to see them back up quality performances from the previous day. We will continue to improve on our second day meet management and competitive effort as a whole, but progress is being made."
USF returns to action Friday, Feb. 14 when the Bulls travel to Houston, Texas, to take part in the Howie Ryan Invitational hosted by the University of Houston.
