Bulls Earn Numerous ITA Academic Honors
TAMPA, July 28, 2020 – University of South Florida women's tennis was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-Academic Team and had five players recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes, the organization announced on Monday.
Janvhi Clark (Tauranga, New Zealand),
Grace Eland (Manchester, England),
Marcela Ifju (Gainesville, Fla.),
Laura Pellicer (Valencia, Spain), and
Selin Yaylali (Gainesville, Fla.) were named ITA Scholar-Athletes. In order to be eligible, a student-athlete must have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 for the current academic year. In 2020, 1,430 Division I female student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
"This team takes its academics seriously and I am proud of them for being recognized for that commitment," head coach
Cristina Moros said. "Our athletes strive for success in the classroom and for Janvhi, Grace, Marcela, Laura, and Selin to be named ITA Scholar-Athletes is a huge honor for them, our academic support staff and our team."
Along with USF, 243 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team honors. To achieve this distinction, the team must have a team grade-point average of 3.2 or above.
