Chase Ferguson Named Conference Player of the Week

TAMPA, Jan. 26, 2021 – University of South Florida men's tennis student-athlete Chase Ferguson was named American Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday. This is his first selection for the honor.

Ferguson (Melbourne, Australia) started off the season strong for the Bulls, winning the majority of his singles matches and doubles sets. The Australian started off year paired with Pierre Luquet (Draguignan, France) for a doubles win against No. 9 Florida's Ben Shelton and Johannes Ingildsen. He and Luquet, ranked No. 38 in doubles play by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, also defeated Clemson's Yizhou Liu and Jorge Plans Gonzalez to start the year 2-1 in doubles play.

In singles play, after a tough loss to the Gators' No. 12 Duarte Vale, Ferguson defeated both of his opponents this past weekend in straight sets, helping seal wins against Clemson and Auburn.

The USF men's tennis team is back in action this weekend as they travel to Orlando to face off against War on I-4 rival UCF on Sunday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m.
