TAMPA, Jan. 27, 2021 – The University of South Florida women's tennis team continues its road stretch to Tuscaloosa to compete against the Alabama Crimson Tide tomorrow at noon. The Bulls quickly return to action with a match on Friday versus Auburn scheduled for 11 a.m. at Yarbrough Tennis Center.

South Florida is coming off of a tough 6-1 loss Tuesday to No. 9 Florida State. The match featured a great debut performance by freshman Grace Schumacher (Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia), who picked up a win in her first collegiate appearance beating No. 106 Victoria Allen in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 10-7.

"We are hoping to build some momentum from our last match and bring that into Thursday and Friday," head coach Cristina Moros said. "We know we will need to compete extremely well if we have a chance of pulling out wins the next few days. But I feel like our team is confident and as prepared as possible."

Auburn is undefeated with wins over Furman, 4-3, and Samford, 7-0, to begin the year. The Tigers have two players ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings: Selin Ovunc (No. 62) and Taylor Russo (No. 99). Ovunc and Russo also hold the No. 11 spot in the ITA doubles ranking.

Auburn currently holds a 1-0 advantage against the Bulls. Head Coach Caroline Lilley enters her 2nd season with the Tigers and posted an 8-6 record in dual matches last season.
