USF Heads East for War on I-4 2.0 Against Central Florida

TAMPA (Oct. 25, 2021) – The University of South Florida men's soccer team travels east to Orlando on Wednesday as the Bulls butt heads with Central Florida in this season's second edition of the War on I-4. The kick-off at the UCF Soccer and Track Complex is set for 6 p.m. The Green and Gold have won two of its last three matches.  
 
Wednesday marks the first of two straight matches on the road for the Bulls, who come into the contest with the Knights just three points out of fourth place, and a spot in the conference tournament, with just three matches left in the regular season. South Florida sits right behind Memphis and its nine points. Following the match with Central Florida, the Bulls will travel to face the Tigers on Sunday evening in a crucial match, looking to sweep the season series. USF defeated Memphis, 2-1, on Oct. 18 at Corbett Stadium, and currently holds the tie-breaker on Memphis.

- USF and Central Florida will meet for the 36th time on Wednesday and the second edition of 2021 of the War on I-4, with the Bulls leading in the all-time series, 23-9-3 ... The last meeting between the two sides came on Sept. 29, with the Knights coming out on top, 3-2. ... USF's last win against UCF was on February 20, 2021, in Orlando, 2-1.

- UCF comes into its match with USF, 8-4 on the year and 6-1 in The American ... The Knights are coming off a 3-0 win over Temple on Oct. 22 ... Central Florida has a three-match winning streak heading into its game with USF, and have won seven of its last eight.
 
- Lucca Dourado and Gino Vivi lead the Knights in scoring with 23 points (11g, 1a) and 13 points (4g, 5a), respectively ... Nick Taylor (12 pts., 2g, 8a) and Alessandro Campoy (11 pts., 5g, 1a) round out the double-digit point scorers.

- Following Wednesday's match against Central Florida, the Bulls will hit the road again to face Memphis on Oct. 31 ... Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. ET.
 
- After Memphis, South Florida will close out the regular season at home on Nov. 5 against Temple ... Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Corbett Stadium.

- For the first time since Nov. 9, 2019, Corbett Stadium will return to full-capacity seating for fans, a stretch of 647-days entering USF's season-opening match against Jacksonville on Aug. 26.

USF Men's Soccer competed in the school's first ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3.
