TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 6, 2021 – The University of South Florida women's soccer team travels to Orlando, Fla. for its annual War on I-4 match against the University of Central Florida. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday.
South Florida is coming off of a 1-1 draw against Houston in its most recent match. A 90
th minute penalty kick goal from
Sydny Nasello (Land O' Lakes, Fla.) sent the game to a double-overtime stalemate, giving both teams one point in the conference standings. Nasello was named to the league's weekly honor roll for the goal.
Scouting Central Florida
UCF is currently tied for eighth in the conference with only one point in league games so far from a tie against SMU and a pair of losses against Houston and Memphis.
Kristen Scott leads Knights attackers with six goals and one assist for 13 points this season. Behind her, Darya Rajaee has nine points via three goals and three assists. In goal, Caroline DeLisle has handled nearly every minute for UCF so far, posting a 1.11 GAA nad a 0.836 save percentage.

While UCF leads the all-time series 11-5-4, the teams are tied at 4-4-4 since the formation of the American Athletic Conference in 2013. USF is currently on a two-game winning streak and has posted a 4-1-3 record in the last eight games.

The USF women's soccer team has posted eight consecutive seasons of 10-plus wins and nine in the last 10 years under head coach Denise Schilte-Brown. The Bulls made their first NCAA tournament appearance in 2010 and returned in 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020. South Florida has won four consecutive conference championships, earning the tournament title in 2017, 2019 and 2020 as well as the regular-season title in 2018 and 2020. The program had its first draft pick and second-highest pick in USF Athletics history with Evelyne Viens being taken with the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NWSL Draft by Sky Blue FC, now Gotham FC.
