TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 11, 2021ย โ The University of South Florida cross country team travels north to Huntsville, Alabama, to compete in the NCAA South Regionals hosted at John Hunt Park. The women's 6K starts at 9:30 a.m., while the men's 10K follow at 10:30 a.m.ย ย

In their last race at the AAC Championships, Nickolas Kamen (Naples, Fla.) was the top finisher for USF with a time of 25:55.8 in the men's 8K. In the women's 6K, Kelly Lynch (Wilmington, Del.) paced the pack with a time of 23:26.7. Overall, both Bulls teams placed 11th in the competition.ย

USF will face ranked teams from the South Region, including current men's and women's no. 1 Ole Miss and Florida State, respectively. The two are also reigning champions from the 2019 meeting. The Bulls are looking to contend against the additional 36 teams making the trip to Huntsville, including rival and fellow AAC member UCF. The top two teams in the final standings will earn an automatic bid to NCAA Championships on November 20 in Tallahassee, Fla. Also, the top five finishers in the heat will qualify.ย

About USF Cross Country
Erik Jenkins is in his third season as the head coach of USF cross country. The history of USF's women's program consists of five conference and two region championships as well as five NCAA qualifying teams. The USF men's program has produced seven conference championships and three NCAA qualifying teams.
