USF’s Nasello Repeats as All-American

TAMPA, Fla., Dec. 2, 2021 – University of South Florida women's soccer student-athlete Sydny Nasello was voted a second-team All-American, United Soccer Coaches announced on Thursday.
 
"We love to see all of Sydny's effort culminate into such a great honor," head coach Denise Schilte-Brown said. "We're excited about her future."

Nasello, who was a first-team All-American in 2020, scored eleven goals, including four game-winners, in USF's 2021 campaign and added five assists for 27 points. She started all of USF's 19 matches, and finished second on the team among field players with 1,694 minutes played.
 
The Land O' Lakes, Fla., native also wrapped up her 2021 season with multiple to-50 finishes in NCAA statistical categories, including game-winning goals (44th), goals per game (49th; 0.58), shot accuracy (30th; 0.610), shots per game (20th; 4.05), shots on goal per game (3rd; 2.47) and total goals (47th). Additionally, she lead the conference in shot accuracy, shots per game, shots on goal per game, total goals and total points.
 
Her efforts helped lead the Bulls to its fifth consecutive NCAA tournament and eighth since 2010. She also paced USF's offense as it captured the 2021 American Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship, marking its fifth consecutive season with a conference title.
 
Nasello has declared for the 2022 NWSL Draft, which will be held in Los Angeles on Dec. 18, 2021 at 2 p.m. The draft is scheduled to be televised on CBS Sports Network.
 
With her declaration for the draft, Nasello ends her collegiate career with multiple finishes in the program's all-time lists. She ranks tied for first in assists (28), third in assists per game (0.394), fourth in points per game (1.070), fourth in shots (214), fourth in shots per game (3.014), fifth in points (76), seventh in goals (24) and seventh in goals per game (0.338).
 
Nasello is one of lone All-Americans from the American Athletic Conference and one of four at a university in the state of Florida. Her honor is the sixth earned by USF women's soccer student-athletes, and marks the squad's fifth-straight season with an All-American.

The USF women's soccer team has posted ten consecutive seasons of 10-plus wins under head coach Denise Schilte-Brown. The Bulls made their first NCAA tournament appearance in 2010 and returned in 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. South Florida has five consecutive seasons with a conference championship, earning the tournament title in 2017, 2019 and 2020 as well as the regular-season title in 2018, 2020 and 2021. The program had its first draft pick and second-highest pick in USF Athletics history with Evelyne Viens being taken with the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NWSL Draft by Sky Blue FC, now Gotham FC.
