Bessette Named The American’s Rookie of the Week
TAMPA, Feb. 15, 2021 – University of South Florida women's soccer freshman
Vivianne Bessette was selected as the American Athletic Conference's Rookie of the Week in the first iteration of the weekly awards for the 2020 season, the league announced Monday.
Bessette (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) played a major role in both the offensive and defensive efforts in the Bulls' season-opening win over Florida Atlantic on Feb. 7. In her collegiate debut, the Bulgarian national scored a goal and tallied an assist to help power USF's offense in the 3-0 victory. As a defender, she also played 78 minutes in the shutout effort where FAU took only four shots with one going on goal.
Sydny Nasello (Land O' Lakes, Fla.) was also selected as a part of the AAC honor roll for her three-point (1g, 1a) effort against the Owls.
The Bulls are back in action this Sunday, Feb. 21, in its conference opener against Temple. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+. Due to virus mitigation measures and the size of the venue, fan attendance will be via team pass list only at Corbett Stadium.
