Leblic, Hahn Highlight American Athletic Conference Weekly Awards

TAMPA, Fla., Feb. 22, 2021 – After a 2-0 win in the Bulls' conference and home opener against Temple, Paula Leblic was named the American Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week and Chiara Hahn was selected as the Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

"We're so pleased to see this team get recognized for its great effort on the pitch every week," head coach Denise Schilte-Brown said. "Paula has been a great addition to our midfield, helping support our defensive and offensive efforts. Chiara has also become a key piece of our tactical execution. We're encouraged to see the group get recognition after a great game this week."

Leblic (Madrid, Spain) scored a goal and tallied an assist on the game-winner against Temple. Her first point as a Bull came off Katie Kitching's (Bedale, England) goal in the eighth minute. She sent a crossing pass which found the Brit and was sent into the back of the net. Leblic scored herself in the 29th minute, when her free kick deflected off a Temple defender and into the net to give the Bulls a 2-0 lead.

Both Leblic and Hahn (Lauterbach, Germany) were critical to the Bulls defensive efforts as well. The Bulls posted their second straight shutout and only allowed two shots total, with neither finding their way on goal.

The conference also placed Sydney Martinez (Rincon, Ga.) and Kitching to the weekly honor roll. Martinez posted her second consecutive shutout in the win against Temple, while Kitching scored the game-winning goal.
