TAMPA, FLA., Feb. 6, 2021 – The University of South Florida women's tennis team goes on the road again to DeLand to compete against the Stetson Hatters tomorrow (3 p.m.), followed by a quick return to action the next day versus North Florida scheduled for 2 p.m. at in Jacksonville, Fla.

South Florida is coming off of tough losses on the road to Alabama, 5-2, and Auburn, 4-0. Freshman
Grace Schumacher (Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia) remains undefeated and picked up her second singles win against Alabama in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4. Sophomore
Margriet Timmermans (Bergen op Zoom, Netherlands) won her first singles match in two sets, 6-2, 6-2, versus Alabama.

"I am really looking forward to getting out there and competing again this weekend," head coach
Cristina Moros said. "We will bring the experience of some matches under our belt to two tough teams on the road in UNF and Stetson. Â We know we will need to compete at a very high level to have a chance of winning at either place."

Scouting Stetson
Stetson is undefeated with a sweep over Florida National to begin the year. The Hatters are led by sophomore Noa Cohen, who posted nine singles wins and an 8-2 doubles record last season. South Florida holds an 8-0 advantage against Stetson, and last season posted a 5-2 win at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts. Head Coach Travis Sandlant enters his 5th season with the Hatters and has led them to winning records in each of the last three seasons.

Scouting UNF
North Florida is currently 2-0 with wins against Flagler and Georgia Southern. The Ospreys are an experienced team with eight returners and two newcomers this season. They are led by redshirt senior Lucia Montano, who is ranked No. 84 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles ranking. Montano finished last season with a 6-2 singles record at the No. 1 spot, with one of her losses coming against USF junior Laura Pellicer (Gandia, Valencia, Spain).

In the last matchup, UNF emerged victorious with a 4-3 win, but the Bulls hold a 9-2 advantage over the Ospreys.
