Bulls Return Home to Host ETSU and Central Arkansas

TAMPA, FLA., March 18, 2021 – The University of South Florida women's tennis team comes back home to begin a four-match homestead beginning with Eastern Tennessee State University tomorrow at 12 p.m. followed Central Arkansas on Monday, March 22 at 1 p.m.
 
Due to virus mitigation measures and the size of the venue, USF will not allow fans inside the USF Varsity Tennis Courts complex.
 
South Florida is coming off losses to FAU, 6-1 and No. 35 Miami, 5-2, recording its third consecutive loss. The doubles pair of Laura Pellicer (Gandia, Valencia, Spain) and Grace Eland (Manchester, England) had success in the two matches and came out with wins on court three. Grace Schumacher (Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia) went 2-0 this week and defeated Miami's No. 87 Daeveni Achong, picking up her second win over a ranked opponent. Margiet Timmermans got her seventh singles win, 3-6, 7-5, 1-0, of the season versus Miami.
 
"Happy to be playing in Tampa for the next couple of matches," head coach Cristina Moros said. "Our team made a big step in the right direction with our last match and I am hoping to do the same again in our next two matches against some dangerous teams in ETSU and Central Arkansas."  
 
Scouting ETSU
ETSU is currently 6-8 coming off a 6-1 loss against FIU on March 17. They are led by Laylo Bakhodirova, who has recorded a 5-8 at the No. 1 singles spot. The Bucs are also led by Andrea Pascual-Larrinaga with a 7-6 singles record and 7-6 doubles record at the No. 3 spot.
 
The match Friday will be the first meeting between the Bulls and Eastern Tennessee State.
 
Scouting Central Arkansas
The Bears are 9-8 and 4-1 in the Southland Conference and have won four of their last five matches. Central Arkansas' last match was on March 13 and was victorious over Southeastern Louisiana, 6-1.
 
Fuka Nonoyama leads the Bears with a 11-4 singles record at the top two spots and and 10-2 doubles record at the No. 1 spot with partner Chunxi Xin. This will be the first matchup between the two in program history.
