USF Defeats the Central Arkansas Bears, 4-3

TAMPA, Fla., March 22, 2021 – The University of South Florida women's tennis team snapped its four-match losing streak against University of Central Arkansas on Monday with a 4-3 victory at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
 
The Bulls (6-9) clinched the doubles point with Alex Mjos (Austin, Texas) and Margriet Timmermans (Bergen op Zoom, Netherlands) taking court three, 6-4, followed by Amelie Boy (Trianon, Mauritius) and Grace Schumacher (Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia) with a win over Mei Ishimura and Yada Vasupongchai, 6-4.
 
Schumacher extended her streak to four straight singles wins with a victory on court two in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1. The next point for the Bulls came from court four with Mjos taking the first set, 6-1, but dropped the second set, 0-6, but took over in third set, 6-3, for the win.
 
The Bears (9-9) got their first points with wins on court five and six to the narrow the score to 3-2. Soon after, Evelyne Tiron clinched the win for South Florida with a straight set defeat over Central Arkansas' Jaeun Lee, 6-4, 7-5.
 
After picking up the first set, 6-2, Laura Pellicer (Gandia, Valencia, Spain) dropped the next sets, 6-4, 6-3 to Fuka Nonoyama to close the match.
