No. 29 Bulls Prepare for Road Wins

TAMPA, Fla., March 25, 2021 – The University of South Florida men's tennis team heads west to continue its road stretch. The No. 29 Bulls are looking to extend their away record to 8-3 against formidable opponents.
USF is back on the road after falling to No. 42 Miami, 3-4. The Bulls are currently 10-4 overall.
Scouting UTSA
The No. 54 Roadrunners (10-5) are back at home after a successful 4-0 sweep against UT Rio Grande Valley. Head Coach Sergey Avdeyev continues his second season at UTSA.
The doubles point was secured after wins from Juri Reckow and Slava Gulin, 6-4, and Javier Gonzalez and Garrett Skelly, 6-3. Reckow carried momentum into singles in his 6-4, 6-3 success on court one. Gulin put UTSA within one after his 7-6, 4-2 win on court five. Skelly clinched the match after sliding over opponent 6-1, 6-3 at court six.
Friday's match will be the third meeting between the two since 2010; USF currently holds a 2-0 advantage overall.
Scouting Texas
The No. 7 Longhorns (13-3) continue their homestretch after defeating No. 19 Arizona, 4-3. Head Coach Bruce Berque continues his second season at Texas.
Texas secured the well coveted doubles point after wins from Micah Braswell and Jacob Bullard, 6-3, and No. 18 Siem Woldeab and Eliot Spizzirri, 7-5. During singles play, all matches forced three sets in the close 4-3 victory. No. 18 Braswell bounced back from a set down to defeat No. 54 Filip Malbasic, 6-7, 6-3, 6-1. Evin McDonald survived after a strong push from Carlos Hassey, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6. Nevin Arimilli's 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 success officially clinched the match for Texas.
The Bulls are looking to snap their 0-2 losing streak against the Longhorns in their first match since 2019.
Scouting MTSU
The No. 46 Blue Raiders (11-5) return home after their tough 3-4 loss to No. 32 Alabama. Head Coach Jimmy Borendame continues his eleventh season at Middle Tennessee.
The doubles point on courts one and two were secured by wins from Stijin Slump and Pavel Motl, 7-5, and Tom Moonen and Chris Edge, 6-2. Slump's 6-4, 6-2 victory on court three put Middle Tennessee within two. Despite a strong hold from Max Rauch on court six, 6-1, 2-6, 6-3, the Blue Raiders were unable to clinch the win.
The Bulls are hoping to keep their 4-0 record against Middle Tennessee in their first match since 2015.
