No. 14 USF Defeats ECU, Will Play Cincinnati for AAC Tournament Championship

TAMPA, Fla., April 15, 2021 – The No. 14/15 University of South Florida women's soccer team remained undefeated this season to move onto the American Athletic Conference Championship with a 1-0 victory over East Carolina on Thursday night.

The Bulls will now play Cincinnati in the American Athletic Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday at 2 p.m. It's the team's sixth trip to the AAC Tournament Championship in the eight years the tournament has been conducted and fourth consecutive trip dating back to 2017.

Sydny Nasello (Land O' Lakes, Fla.) led South Florida with three shots on goal, while Sydney Martinez (Rincon, Ga.) tallied three saves in net.

The Bulls (8-0-2, 6-0-1 AAC) got on the board in the eleventh minute off an ECU own goal from pressure applied by Solveig Larsen (Kopavogur, Iceland). An ECU clear attempt deflected off a Pirate and into the net to give USF the lead.

While both teams had opportunities in the second half, neither team was able to find the back of the net, giving the Bulls the victory.
