Bulls Travel to Charleston For SAISA Team Championships
TAMPA, Fla., April 16, 2021 – The USF sailing team will travel to Charleston, S.C. to compete in the SAISA conference championships for coed teams this weekend, on Saturday and Sunday.
While the regatta will serve as the qualifier for the coed sailing national championships, the Bulls have already qualified for the women's national championships, set to take place May 19-20 in Annapolis, Md., hosted by Navy.
USF will compete this weekend alongside Miami, FSU, NC State, Georgia Tech, College of Charleston, Jacksonville, Embry Riddle, Rollins College and The Citadel.
"Our goal is a top three finish, the top three teams advance to the coed national championship," head coach
Allison Jolly said. "Once again, we are the only women's team participating. Interestingly, in college sailing, women can compete in all coed events, which we did this year."
The traveling team are seniors
Marina Barzaghi,
Katie Bornarth, and Sam Kappaz, juniors Carolina Rovira and Lexie Foos, and sophomores
Sydney Monahan,
Olivia Smith, and
Lily Theisen.
Results from the competition will be shared on GoUSFBulls.com next week.
