GREENSBORO, N.C., April 26, 2021 – The No. 12/15 University of South Florida women's soccer team begins its seventh trip to the NCAA tournament with a first round matchup against the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils on Tuesday, April. Kickoff is at 3 p.m.

USF won its third American Athletic Conference Tournament Championship last week, bringing its total number of titles in the AAC to five. The top-seeded Bulls defeated East Carolina in the first round, 1-0, before taking down Cincinnati, 4-0, in the championship game.

Sydney Martinez (Rincon, Ga.) was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Defensive Player after posting over 170 minutes of shutout soccer in net.
Sydny Nasello (Land O' Lakes, Fla.) earned the title of the tournament's Most Outstanding Offensive Player for recording a brace in the tournament finals. Martinez, Nasello, Solveig Larsen (Kopavogur, Iceland),
Paula Leblic (Madrid, Spain) and Rosalia Muino (Coruna, Spain) were all named to the AAC all-tournament team.

This is USF's first time meeting CCSU on the pitch.

Opponent
CCSU finished the season undefeated, going 7-0 including a 6-0 record in Northeast Conference play and beating LIU for the NEC Championship. The Blue Devils average 2.71 goals per game and only allow 0.14 goals per game.

Freshman forward Kelly Brady leads Central Connecticut State with 11 points on the year via four goals and three assists. Roma McLaughlin is second, with 10 points (4 g, 2 a). Amanda McQuillan has played the most minutes in net for CCSU, not allowing a goal in 540 minutes in net this season.

The USF women's soccer team has posted eight consecutive seasons of 10-plus wins and nine in the last 10 years under head coach Denise Schilte-Brown. The Bulls made their first NCAA tournament appearance in 2010 and returned in 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019. South Florida has won four consecutive conference championships, earning the tournament title in 2017 and 2019 as well as the regular season title in 2018 and in 2020.
