Track & Field Finishes Regular Season at UNF Team Invite

TAMPA, APRIL 28, 2021 – Coming off a strong performance in which the Bulls claimed eight event titles and posted 12 top 10 program marks last weekend, the USF track and field team will close out its regular season schedule at the UNF Team Invite in Jacksonville this Thursday and Friday.  

XCTF Top 10 100-Meter HurdlesThe event begins at noon on Thursday with the women's discus competition kicking off numerous field events contested on the day and concluding with the men's and women's 5,000 meters at 9:30 p.m.

Friday's competition begins at 10 a.m. with the women's hammer throw and men's javelin and wraps up at 5 p.m. with the men's and women's 100 meters. USF is expected to field a full squad for the event as the last preparation ahead of the AAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted at the USF Track and Field Stadium, May 14-16.

Last weekend saw the Bulls men shine, claiming five titles and dominating in the relays. The 4X400-meter relay team took the title in a time of 3:10.07, the fourth-fastest in program history, and the 4X100-meter relay team took the crown in a time of 40.71, the sixth-best in program history. Three current Bulls – Stefone Moore-Green, Duncan Agyemang and Elijah Wright – have posted 400-meter times among the top 10 in program history this season.

David Ajam won the triple jump (50-5.50) and Johann Jeremiah won the shot put (54-11.5). In the men's pole vault, junior Stone Baker equaled his season-best with a mark of 16-7.25 to take the title.

For the women, Shaneylix Davila equaled the school record in the 100-meter hurdles, running 13.24 to finish second and teammate Jae'Nisa Heckstall was just behind in fourth in 13.48, the fourth-best time in program history.

Tampa freshman Shaniya Benjamin continued her strong first season winning the long jump with a personal-best mark of 20-3, which ranks fourth on the USF all-time list.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Heckstall won the event with a personal-best 57.52, a time that ranks second all-time in program history and approaching the record mark of 57.03 set by Amber Delpino in 2000. Heckstall now owns the top time in the American Athletic Conference and a top 10 time nationally. Stephanie Lambeth posted a mark of 12-11.75 to win the pole vault and lead four Bulls who placed in the top six.
