TAMPA, Fla., April 8, 2021 – The University of South Florida men's tennis team continues their home stretch this weekend with a match against Florida Atlantic on Friday afternoon at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts..
USF is coming off tight 3-4 losses from No. 28 Tulane and No. 9 UCF. The Bulls are currently 11-8 overall with a 5-3 home record. USF has shined lately in singles play, despite getting down early in doubles performances, the Bulls have battled back in recent matches to keep the contests close.
Scouting FAU
The Owls (6-8) continue their road stretch after a narrow 3-4 loss to Florida State. Head Coach Ricardo Gonzalez continues his eighth season at FAU.
FAU lost the doubles point after losses from Maxime Lapraille and Filip Krolo, 1-6, and Kevin Huempfner and Alvaro Fernandez Horta, 3-6. Huempfer secured the first point for the Owls after his 6-2, 6-3 win over Richard Thongoana. Fernandez Horta defeated Marcus Walters, 6-4, 6-4. The last point by Gerard Escandell's 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 success tied the match. However, Finn Stodder's loss, 5-7, 6-4, 3-6, officially gave the Seminoles the victory.
In the series, USF and FAU have faced off 11 times, with USF winning the last matchup, 5-2. The Bulls lead the series 9-2.
