USF Coed Cheer Claims Division IA National Championship
TAMPA, MAY 10, 2021 – After years of climbing the ladder under head coach
Gillian Guadagnino, the USF Coed Cheer Team claimed the program's first national championship at the Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) College Nationals at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, April 27-28.

USF posted a first-place performance in their traditional routine and second-place in their game day routine to claim the Division IA Coed Cheer National Championship.
The team of Annalise Giordano, Ansley Topchik, Anthony Howard, Brooke Penkal, Erica Scarborough, Gabriel Rodriguez, Jerimiah Taylor, Joey Apisa, Josh Kuseck, Jovon Penny, Katie Carol, Madison Bridges, Matthew Del Castillo, Nathan Baker, Nicole Carignan and Uriel Sanchez delivered the Bulls first national title competing against teams from UCF, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee and Liberty.
After a 13-year hiatus, USF Coed renewed nationals competition in 2016 and has progressively climbed up the leaderboard, finishing 12th (2017), 8th (2018), 4th (2019), 5th (2020) and finally No. 1 in 2021.

USF Athletics sponsors 19 varsity men's and women's teams that compete in 11 different sports, 18 at the NCAA Division I level in the American Athletic Conference. The Bulls' athletic program began in 1965 and is in its 55th season in 2020-21. Nearly 450 student-athletes train and compete in the athletic district located on the east end of the campus in Tampa, Fla. The Bulls have claimed 22 American Athletic Conference team titles since joining the conference in 2013, and own 126 conference titles overall. The Bulls posted a combined annual grade-point average over 3.0 for the fifth straight year in 2019-20 and have posted a program record 12 straight semesters with a combined GPA over 3.0. USF has had nearly 450 student-athletes earn their degree since 2016-17.
