USF Sends Four to Participate in 2021 NCAA Career in Sports Forum

TAMPA, MAY 28, 2020 – USF's Brittany Hook (softball), Madisyn Lyons (volleyball), Ashley Meade (women's soccer), and Selin Yaylali (women's tennis) will get well-prepared for the working world while attending the virtual 2021 NCAA Career in Sports Forum this week.

This year's forum will bring together selected NCAA student-athletes to learn about and explore potential careers in sports, particularly college athletics. This unique virtual programming experience will help student-athletes chart their career paths while presenting copious opportunities for attendees to learn from current industry leaders.

Notable speakers will cover the following topics and more to prepare attendees for success navigating their futures: self-awareness and its role in professional development; practical approaches to the sports job search; personal branding; developing a career plan; managing yourself as a professional in the sports industry, among other topics. Through online panels, engaging breakout sessions, keynote presentations, and facilitated discussions, program participants will complete their experience with a thorough understanding of athletics as a career path and where they fit into the industry's landscape.

Close to 400 NCAA junior and senior student-athletes from all divisions around the country will have the opportunity to get career guidance and network with athletic administrators and sports industry experts during the three-day event.

Last year, USF softball standout Bethaney Keen and women's soccer player Chyanne Dennis attended the forum that's typically held at the NCAA's headquarters in Indianapolis for close to 200 student-athletes. The event was expanded to provide more guidance and education, especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Forum speakers include directors of athletics, representatives from athletics academic services, athletic conference offices, head coaches, and officials in business and professional sports.
