Nasello Named Semifinalist for MAC Hermann Trophy

TAMPA, Fla. May 4, 2021 – University of South Florida women's soccer forward Sydny Nasello was named a semifinalist for the Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy. She is one of 15 semifinalists announced by the organization on Tuesday.

"We're very proud of Sydny for being named as a semifinalist for this award," head coach Denise Schilte-Brown said. "She was outstanding on the pitch this season for us and was a key piece of our offensive tactics all year. We're so happy that she's earning the recognition on a National level for her efforts."

The MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by World Wide Technology, is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year. This year's award was pushed back to accommodate the seasons affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Winners will be announced May 27 at the 2021 MAC Hermann Trophy Press Conference and Banquet taking place at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo.

Nasello is the lone semifinalist from the American Athletic Conference and one of three from a Florida university.

In 12 starts with the Bulls this season, Nasello led South Florida in scoring with 17 points on the season. Not only a goal scorer, finding the back of the net six times during the year, she also was a playmaker for others, tallying five assists on the year.

The Land O' Lakes, Fla., native also ranks highly in the statistical rankings. Nasello is 10th in the country with four game-winning goals and 11th with 2.33 shots on goal per game.

After earning AAC Offensive Player of the Week honors three times during the season, the junior was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year and earned first team All-American Athletic Conference honors.

After scoring a brace against Cincinnati in the AAC Tournament Championship game, Nasello was honored as the tournament's Most Outstanding Offensive Player.
