Three Bulls Earn AAC All-Conference Awards

TAMPA, Fla., May 6, 2021 – The American Athletic Conference announced postseason honors, including for two singles players and one doubles team from the University of South Florida. No. 66 Chase Ferguson (Melbourne, Australia) and No. 47 Jakub Wojcik (Delray Beach, Fla.) were named to the all-conference singles list and doubles tandem Rithvik Bollipalli (Hyderabad, India) and Wojcik earned an all-conference doubles selection.
 
"I'm really excited seeing the progress of Kuba, Rithvik and Chase," Head Coach Ashley Fisher said. "They continue to develop and improve. Accolades like this are a result of the process of intentional hard work."
 
No. 24 Bollipalli and Wojcik combined 8-7 throughout the season with a total of two ranked wins. The duo entered the 2020-21 season ranked No. 21 and have peaked as high as No. 14. Most notably, they defeated current No. 2 Luc Fomba and Alasair Gray of TCU, 7-5. In the AAC Championship first round, the pair triumphed over Tulsa's No. 41 Connor Di Marco and Kody Pearson, 6-4 to earn the doubles point in the Bulls' 4-2 victory.
 
Ferguson (11-9) debuted at No. 45 on the Top 125 singles players in the country. He spent the majority of the season at the No. 1 singles spot, earning formidable wins over No. 21 Alastair Gray, 1-6, 6-4, 7-5, and No. 122 Maxime Laprille, 6-4, 6-0. His 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 success over SMU's Caleb Chakravarthi clinched the Bulls first conference victory of the season. Ferguson was the first player of the 2020-21 season to earn a weekly conference honors after a successful singles conquest over Clemson and Auburn in a tight Bulls win, 4-3. During the AAC Championship, Ferguson went 2-0 versus No. 48 Tulsa and No. SMU 46 to propel the Bulls to the final.  
 
Wojcik spent majority of the season at the No. 2 singles spot to go 17-5 throughout the term. He erupted in March to win 14 of his last 15 singles matches, including victories over TCU's No. 17 Luc Fomba, Texas' No. 75 Siem Woldeab, UCF's No. 9 Gabriel Decamps, Memphis' No. 58 James Story and Tulsa's No. 50 Kody Pearson. 
 
Up next, the Bulls travel to Gainesville to compete in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to face No. 32 Duke, on Saturday, May 8 at 10 a.m.
