Grand Prize Award Caps Successful HerdPerks 2020-21 Campaign
TAMPA, Fla., SEPT. 1, 2021 – More than 12,000 USF students downloaded and used the HerdPerks app to get tickets, event information and engage with USF Athletics in 2020-21, but only one earned the keys to a brand-new car.
Kyndra Mcleod, a junior from Bradenton, Fla., was surprised with the news that she had won during a live event at Parks Ford dealership in Wesley Chapel that included Vice President of Athletics
Michael Kelly and Terry Mullane, Vice President/General Manager of Parks Ford.
"Despite the fact that it was a different year due to COVID-19, I had a lot of fun using the app, and I can't wait to be back to a more normal year in 2021 and 2022" said a grinning Mcleod. She is now the proud owner of a new 2021 Ford Mustang.
Despite a COVID year with a lot of virtual events, a total number of 6,205 check-ins have occurred on the app, with more than 3,000 new users. Due to the coronavirus pandemic and majority of the class being online, students were only allowed to be at football and basketball home games. The HerdPerks program became a virtual program in 2020-21 to accommodate the change.
"I'm really excited," Mullane said as he showed off the new vehicle from the Parks Ford Wesley Chapel showroom. "On behalf of the Parks Family and my team here at the Parks Motor Group, you're going to make those people back in Bradenton very proud when they see you driving around a brand-new Ford Mustang!"
Other prizes award included four Coke tailgate sets and three Coke neon signs won by different USF students.
USF Athletics is continuing the program in 2021-22 with another brand-new Mustang from Park Ford Wesley Chapel as the grand prize. A $500 to the USF bookstore and 500 USF dining dollars will also be awarded as prizes for the 2021-22 academic year. At the end of the academic year, the top 25 students will enter a drawing to have a chance to win the new Mustang or one of the $500 prizes.
USF students had the opportunity to win the vehicle simply by downloading and activating the HerdPerks app and attending games for all USF sports, as well as other USF Athletics events around campus and the Bay area. Students' attendance was logged via Geofencing on the app, which can be downloaded
HERE. Students could also win numerous smaller prizes on the app throughout the year.
The HerdPerks app takes the USF student fan experience to the next level and allows students to get rewarded for their loyalty and attendance. Students check-in at events throughout the year to rack up points and unlock prizes all season long. Top points can be gained by attending USF games, which earn a standard 15 points but can also be designated as double and triple points events, and smaller point totals can be accrued by participating in activities and events such as Trivia Tuesdays, Bulls Market, Spirit Fridays and more. All events earning points are listed on the HerdPerks app.
