Bulls Finish Competition at FSU Invitational
TALLAHASSEE, Fla., September 17, 2021 – The University of South Florida men's and women's cross country teams competed in the FSU Invitational held at Apalachee Park on Friday.
Overall, both squads placed within the top 20 behind several regionally and nationally ranked competitors. The women checked in at 18th-place among a field of 29 and the men finished 19th out of 26 teams. This race was the first of three set to prepare the Bulls for NCAA Championships hosted in Tallahassee.
Junior
Hannah Offenback (Monticello, Ill.) paced the women's team with a time of 23:45.4 in the 6K race, while freshman
Andie Gonzalez (Naples, Fla.) placed second for the Bulls at 23:54.3.
For the men's 8K race, sophomore
Ben Kailes (Jacksonville, Fla.) was the top finisher for USF with a time of 26:41.9, while freshman
Sebastian Edwards (Celebration, Fla.) followed behind at 27:21.3.
"Today's meet produced impressive performances by some of the nation's elite distance runners. We will use the experience to continuing preparing our team to be successful."
Up next, the Bulls travel to Lakeland, Fla. at the FLRUNNERS.COM Invitational on Friday, October 1.

is in his third season as the head coach of USF cross country. The history of USF's women's program consists of five conference and two region championships as well as five NCAA qualifying teams. The USF men's program has produced seven conference championships and three NCAA qualifying teams.
