Bulls Place 2nd in 17-team Field at Marquette Intercollegiate

ERIN HILLS, WISC. (Sept. 7, 2021) – The defending American Conference champion USF men's golf team started the 2021-22 campaign strong with a second-place finish among 17 teams at the highly competitive Marquette Invitational at Erin Hills Golf Course in Wisconsin.
 
USF's team total of 28-under-par 836 was four strokes behind No. 13-ranked Texas A&M, which won the event with a 32-under-par 832 on the 7,344-yard, par 72 course. The Bulls out-paced Purdue (-26), East Tennessee State (-19), Kansas (-18), No.  24 Liberty (-11), Notre Dame (-10), Northwestern (-9), Iowa (-8) and UC Davis (-5) among the top 10 teams.
 
Albin Bergstrom (Falsterbo, Sweden) paced USF with a fourth-place finish, firing rounds of 67, 68 and 70 to post an 11-under-par total of 205. Run Youprayong (Bangkok, Thailand) finished 11th with rounds of 71, 69 and 70 for a 6-under-par 210. Luke Gifford (Boca Raton) tied for 46th at 1-over-par.
 
The Bulls return to the links on Mon., Sept. 27 at the Windon Memorial Classic at Lake Shor Golf Club in Lake Forest, Ill.
 
About USF Men's Golf
USF men's golf program has captured 17 conference titles, including in 2021, and have seen players earn 19 All-America honors. From 2015-18 the Bulls captured four consecutive American Athletic Conference Championship titles in wire-to-wire fashion, had three individual conference champions and have earned eight straight trips to NCAA Regionals. The program is led by Steve Bradley, who has been named American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year five times since taking over the program in 2014. The Bulls have posted 20 tournament wins under Bradley entering the 2021-22 season, by far the most under any coach in program history.
