USF Men's Tennis Announces 2022 Spring Slate

TAMPA (Jan. 13, 2022) – University of South Florida men's tennis head coach Ashley Fisher announced Thursday the Bulls' 2022 spring schedule, a slate that begins on Friday, Jan. 28 at Georgia State.

"Our guys have worked hard during the fall and as a group, we have some big goals," said Fisher. "This spring's schedule offers us a lot of opportunities at highly ranked teams and will help us in our pursuit of a top 16 ranking."
 
For the first time, all of the Bulls' home matches will be streamed live, with nine available for viewing on GoUSFBulls.com and one slated for a full ESPN+ production.
 
South Florida will face – or have the possibility of facing – five of the nation's top teams that are ranked or getting votes in the ITA Collegiate Tennis Division I Preseason Top 25, including No. 5-ranked TCU and No. 8 Georgia.
 
The spring season will be highlighted by 10 home matches at the Varsity Tennis Courts, however, the 2022 campaign will begin with three-straight road matches, beginning on Friday, Jan. 28 when the Bulls travel to Atlanta to face Georgia State. South Florida will close out its short trip to the Peach State at the ITA Kickoff Weekend in Athens, Ga., Jan. 30-31. The Bulls will open the two-day event in Athens on Sunday, Jan. 30 against Virginia Tech before taking on either No. 8 Georgia or Virginia Commonwealth (VCU) on Monday, Jan. 31.
 
The Green and Gold open the home portion of their schedule with three-straight matches at the Varsity Tennis Courts, beginning on Saturday, Feb. 5 when the Bulls host North Florida at 10 a.m., followed by Florida Atlantic at 2:30 p.m. The Bulls will close out the three-match stretch by taking on Texas A&M, ranked No. 19 in the preseason ITA Top 25, on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 1:30 p.m.
 
After traveling to Tempe, Ariz. to take part in the Tempe Elite 8, held Friday, Feb. 25 through Sunday, Feb. 27, South Florida returns home for its longest homestand of the season. The four-match stretch begins against South Alabama on Wednesday, March 2 at 1:30 p.m. The Bulls will then face Middle Tennessee on Thursday, March 10 at 1:30 p.m. and Furman on Friday, March 11 at 10 a.m. Columbia, who is receiving votes in the ITA preseason poll, will visit the Varsity Tennis Courts on Thursday, March 17 at 1:30 p.m. to conclude the home stretch.
 
The Bulls will hit the road and head to the Lone Star State for matches against preseason No. 5-ranked TCU on Saturday, March 19 in Fort Worth, and then begin American Athletic Conference play at SMU on Sunday, March 20 in Dallas.
 
VCU and Cornell – who like its Ivy League brethren Columbia is receiving votes in the ITA preseason poll – will visit Tampa on Friday, March 25 (1:30 p.m.) and Sunday, March 27 (1:30 p.m.), respectively, before South Florida closes out the regular season with conference play.
 
Three of the Bulls final four matches take place on the road. USF travels to New Orleans to take on Tulane on Friday, April 1, followed by matches at Wichita State on Friday, April 8 and at Tulsa on Sunday, April 10 in America's Heartland.
 
South Florida concludes its regular season on Friday, April 15 at 1:30 p.m. when it hosts Central Florida in the 2022 edition of the War on I-4.
 
The American Athletic Conference Championships will take place Thursday, April 21 through Sunday, April 24 in Tulsa, Okla. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center at the University of Tulsa.
