Former Bull Meghan Cavanaugh Signs with Puerto Rico Sol FC
TAMPA, Fla., Jan. 18, 2022 – Former University of South Florida women's soccer student-athlete
Meghan Cavanaugh will continue to lace up her cleats following her collegiate career, signing with Puerto Rico Sol FC to begin her professional calling.
Cavanaugh arrived in Tampa in 2020 following four years at UAlbany. In her two season with the Bulls, Cavanaugh scored four goals and tallied one assist in 25 appearances and 12 starts. The Clifton Park, N.Y., native helped lead the Bulls to three conference championships, including the 2020 regular season and tournament titles along with the 2021 regular season crown.
Prior to arriving at USF, Cavanaugh was a standout at the University of Albany. She was the 2016 America East Co-Rookie of the Year and an all-conference selection in all three years in which she played.
Puerto Rico Sol FC plays in Liga Puerto Rico, the highest level of women's soccer in the country. The team has dominated in the league, finishing first in the regular season in every season since joining Liga PR and winning the playoffs in 2018-19 and 2021. Cavanaugh will wear No. 7.

The USF women's soccer team has posted ten consecutive seasons of 10-plus wins under head coach Denise Schilte-Brown. The Bulls made their first NCAA tournament appearance in 2010 and returned in 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021. South Florida has five consecutive seasons with a conference championship, earning the tournament title in 2017, 2019 and 2020 as well as the regular-season title in 2018, 2020 and 2021. The program had its first draft pick and second-highest pick in USF Athletics history with Evelyne Viens being taken with the fifth overall pick in the 2020 NWSL Draft by Sky Blue FC, now Gotham FC.
