USF Cross Country Heads to Tallahassee After Hurricane Delays

Tampa, Fla., October 6, 2022 – The University of South Florida cross country men and women's teams head to their third meet of the 2022 season at the FSU Invite in Tallahassee, Fla., after a slow weekend due to Hurricane Ian.

There are 31 collegiate teams competing in the men's 8K event, which begins at 7:40 a.m. and an additional 33 women's collegiate teams are entered for the 5K race at 8:15.

Jesse Benavides (Jacksonville, Fla.), Sebastian Edwards (Celebration, Fla.), Tyler Engleman (Severna Park, Md.), Ben Kailes (Jacksonville, Fla.), Nickolas Kamen (Naples, Fla.), Cason Meyer (Lutz, Fla.), and Tyler Wadsworth (Port Charlotte, Fla.) will all be representing the USF' men's cross-country team on Friday.

Meanwhile, Chloe Byrd (Seoul, South Korea), Caitlin Foley (Mount Dora, Fla.), Lindsay Gonzales (Jacksonville, Fla.), Sydney Granack (Bradenton, Fla.), Marissa Hagenbarth (Valrico, Fla.), Grace Johnson (Naples, Fla.), Cora Kolodge (Fair Haven, Mich.), Kelly Lynch (Wilmington, Del.), and Alyssa Wyatt (Jacksonville, Fla.) will all be wearing the Green and Gold for the women's team.

Following the FSU Invite on Friday, the Bulls compete in their first home meet of the season in Tampa, Fla. scheduled for Oct. 14.

About USF Cross Country
The USF Cross Country team has earned 2 All-America selections, Christina Benton in 2002 and Gray Mavhera in 1994. The Bulls have advanced to the NCAA Cross Country Championships seven times in program history, three times for the men and four times for the women. The USF men's team have won seven team conference championships and the women have won five team championships. Head coach Erik Jenkins took over the program in 2019and during his tenure the Bulls posted twelve program records and 106 top 10 all-time program marks. USF hosted the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 AAC Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium, as well as the 2022 AAC Country Cross Country Championship at Holloway Park.
