TAMPA (October 8, 2022) – The University of South Florida women's golf team returns to the road for the final month of their fall slate at the Dale McNamara Invitational hosted by Tulsa on October 10-11.
Last Time Out
The Bulls were away from home for nearly two full weeks after playing in the Lady Paladin Invitational (South Carolina) and the Evie Odom Invitational (Virginia). The team was originally scheduled to fly back to Tampa in between events, but remained on the road due to Hurricane Ian.
Despite the disruption and extended road trip, South Florida excelled on the final leg of the trip with a third-place finish in the Evie Odom Invitational. The Bulls set a program record in the final round with a new low team score of 273.
After missing action at the Lady Paladin Invitational, Melanie Green returned to the links at the Evie Odom and didn't miss a beat. Green carded scores of 66 (-4) and 65 (-5) over the final two rounds to place fourth individually with a 54-hole score of 206 – just one stroke off her career low.
Lauren Heinlein turned in her best outing as a Bull and tied for 14th with a three-round score of 214.
The Tournament
The Dale McNamara Invitational will be played at Cedar Ridge Country Club. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday and conclude play with 18 holes on Tuesday. Rounds one and two will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Monday's third round will also tee off at 8:30 a.m.
The Bulls
Head coach Erika Brennan has announced the following lineup for USF: Melanie Green, Alizee Vidal, Leonor Medeiros, Lauren Heinlein and Juliana Camargo.
"We've had just a few days back in town to prepare for Tulsa, but the team is looking sharp," Brennan said. "Focusing on controlling the ball with the wind and keeping our strategy simple will be important at Cedar Ridge. This team really pulls for one another, and the way they encourage and lift each other up is special. You can feel the energy when they take the course and we'll keep that momentum going out in Oklahoma."
The Field
South Florida will compete in the 13-team field with: Tulsa, Boise State, BYU, James Madison, K-State, Middle Tennessee State, Nebraska, North Texas, Oral Roberts, Sacramento State, Sam Houston State and UTSA.
