TAMPA (Feb. 20, 2022) – The University of South Florida women's tennis team closed out its second match of the weekend with a 4-1 loss to North Texas at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts on Sunday.
North Texas took the doubles point with wins on court two against Grace Schumacher and Margriet Timmermans, 6-2, and then clinched the doubles portion of the dual with a 6-1 win over Amelie Boy and Sierra Berry on court one, 6-1.
The Mean Green extended its lead to 2-0 with the first singles victory of the afternoon, a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Sierra Berry on court one.
The Bulls cut into the North Texas lead, as Grace Schumacher pulled out a hard-fought 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) win on court two.
North Texas then won the next two matches on courts six (6-4, 6-4) and five (7-5, 6-3) over Selin Yaylali and Amelie Boy, respectively, to close out the match.
Laura Pellicer sat in a good position on court three, 6-4, 4-6, 1-0, and Margriet Timmermans was at 6-3, 4-6, 0-1 on court four at the time the Mean Green secured the match.

The Bulls will continue their eight-match homestand on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. when in-state foe Stetson visits the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.
