NEW ORLEANS (April 1, 2022) – The University of South Florida men's tennis team began its regular season-ending four-match road trip impressively on Friday with a dominating 5-2 win over No. 58-ranked Tulane at the City Park Tennis Center in New Orleans. The win is the Bulls' second straight and fifth in their last eight matches.
 
South Florida, ranked No. 56 in the most recent ITA national rankings, improves to 10-9 on the year while the Green Wave falls to 7-11.  
 
Alvin Tudorica and Sergio Gomez Montesa laid the groundwork for the rest of the day with a commanding 6-1 victory on court three to start the doubles portion of the dual. Tulane, however, came right back with a 6-4 win on court one over Bruno Oliveira and Rithvik Bollipalli to even doubles up at one-match apiece and bring the point down to court two and Chase Ferguson and Ivan Yatsuk. The duo took care of business putting the Green and Gold up 1-0 with a 6-4 victory.
 
In singles, the Bulls picked up where they left off in doubles taking court three, with Antonio Muniz winning 6-3, 6-3, and Ivan Yatsuk winning 6-4, 6-4 on court one for his second victory of the season on the top court, giving South Florida a 3-0 lead.
 
Tulane finally got on the board with a 6-2, 6-3 win on court two over Chase Ferguson to cut the Bulls' lead to 3-1 in the dual. Alvin Tudorica, however, continued his domination, winning his 12th-straight match, and just his third at No. 4, handing his opponent a 6-4, 6-3 loss as South Florida secured the victory over the Green Wave.
 
Despite the Bulls' win, South Florida and Tulane played the final two courts out with the Gomez Montesa winning on court five, 3-6, 7-6 (10-8), 1-0 (10-2), and Oliveira falling on court six, 6-2, 5-7, 0-1 (10-0).

Up Next
South Florida will head to America's Heartland for two matches in three days, beginning on April 8 at Wichita State before heading to Oklahoma to face Tulsa on April 10.
