TULSA, Okla. (April 10, 2022) – The University of South Florida men's tennis team found itself in a dogfight in America's Heartland on Sunday but dug deep to pull out its fourth straight win, and its seventh win in the last 10 matches, with a 4-3 victory over No. 40 Tulsa at the Case Tennis Center.
 
The Bulls, who are ranked No. 51 in the latest ITA national rankings, improve to 12-9 on the year while the Golden Hurricane fall to 11-9.  
 
Tulsa jumped on South Florida early on in the dual, earning the doubles points with a 6-4 win over the Bulls' No. 29-ranked duo of Rithvik Bollipalli and Bruno Oliveira and then on court three over Sergio Gomez Montesa and Alvin Tudorica, 6-4.
 
South Florida, however, turned the tides quickly in singles taking a 3-1 lead.
 
Tudorica continued his winning streak taking his 14th- consecutive match as he evened the dual up at one apiece with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-0 victory on court four followed by Oliveira taking court six, 7-5, 6-2. Ivan Yatsuk won in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, on court two to put the Bulls up 3-1 and within one match victory of a dual win.
 
The Golden Hurricane, however, did not go quietly taking the next two matches to cut the South Florida lead to one, 3-2. Tulsa won on court one, defeating Chase Ferguson, 6-1, 0-6, 6-2, and then handed Gomez Montesa a tough 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) loss on court five, bringing the dual down to court three.
 
South Florida's Antonio Muniz fell in the first set, 5-7, but recovered to take control in the next two sets, 6-4 and 6-1, to clinch the dual.
 
Up Next
The Bulls will close out the regular season by taking on No. 49 Central Florida in the War on I-4 on Friday at 1:30 p.m.
