TULSA, Okla. (April 21, 2022) – The ninth-seeded University of South Florida women's tennis team is living to play another day in the American Athletic Conference Tournament after the Bulls pulled off their second-straight come-from-behind upset, dropping top-seeded and No. 19-ranked Central Florida 4-3 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa.

Freshman Sierra Berry found herself on center stage with the dual tied at three matches apiece after Grace Schumacher closed out court one with a 7-5, 6-4 victory. Berry led after one set on court two, 6-3, and dropped the second set 4-6. The battle-tested rookie didn't waver with a challenging but straight-forward 6-3 win to end Central Florida's tournament title hopes and send the Green and Gold to the semifinals for the first time since 2019.

South Florida fell behind 3-0 after losing the doubles point and then falling on court six, 6-1, 6-2, and court four, 6-1, 6-3. The victory on court four was the last time that the Knights would celebrate during the afternoon.

Amelie Boy got the Bulls on the board with a 6-4, 6-2 win on court five followed by Laura Pellicer taking court three, 6-3, 7-5, setting things up for Schumacher and Berry.

The Green and Gold now face Memphis in the first semifinal match on Friday at 4 p.m. ET. The Tigers defeated Tulane, 4-3. The winner of the South Florida-Memphis match will face the winner of the SMU-Tulsa semifinal match in the American Athletic Conference Tournament championship on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET (ESPN+).
