Bulls Drop Match to Florida, 2-1

GAINESVILLE, Fla., Sept. 1, 2022 – The University of South Florida women's soccer team fell to the Florida Gators, 2-1, in the team's first road match of the season.

Chiara Hahn (Lauterbach, Germany) scored the Bulls' goal in the win, with Rosalia Muino Gonzalez (Coruna, Spain) getting an assist. Sydney Martinez (Rincon, Ga.) made six saves in the match.

The Bulls controlled play for most of the first half. After just over 30 minutes of play, South Florida led the Gators in shots, 7-1. However, Florida's offense started to push back late in the period, tightening the margin to 8-4 by halftime.

Coming out of the break, the Gators continued pressing and broke through in the 61st minute, with Julianne Leskauskas finding the back of the net.

Just over 10 minutes later, the Bulls answered. Hahn (Lauterbach, Germany) scored her second goal in as many games off an assist from Muino Gonzalez.

The stalemate continued until the 82nd minute, with Florida's Syd Kennedy earning the lead back for the Gators off a feed from Leskauskas.
