Both menโs and womenโs teams finish second in the second Lakeland meet of the season
Lakeland, Fla., October 13, 2023ย โย The University of South Florida men's and women's cross country teams completed their final meet of the regular season on Friday night, in the SSC Preview at Holloway Park in Lakeland, Fla..
For the 5:00 p.m. women's 6K mile, the Bulls earned second out of 11 teams competing, being given 40 points. Three Bull runners placed in the top 10, led by freshmanย Delaney Stephensย (Port Orange), who came in third out of 120 runners, with a time of 23:00.7 on the course. Following Stephens was seniorย Kelly Lynchย (Wilmington, Del.), coming in sixth with a time of 23:13.2, and freshmanย Marlo Hiblerย (Ft. Lauderdale) in eighth with a time of 23:41.7 on the day.ย
For the 6:00 p.m. men's 8K, the Bulls finished second out of 13 teams running and were given 55 points. All seven Bulls finished in the top 20 runners out of the 141 runners competing. The top USF finisher was junior Sebastian Edwards (Celebration) who finished seventh overall with a time of 26:59.3 on the day. Freshmanย Jackson Dravoย (Creekside) was just behind Edwards, finishing ninth overall with a time of 27:10.9 on the course.
Up next, the teams travel to Grimesland, N.C. to compete in the AAC Championships scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 28 at 9:15 a.m..

The USFย Cross Countryย team has earnedย 2ย All-America selections,ย Christina Benton in 2002 and Grayย Mavheraย in 1994.ย The Bulls have advanced to the NCAA Cross Country Championships seven times in program history, three times for the men and four times for the women.ย The USF men's team have won seven team conference championships and the women have won five team championships. Director of Track & Field and Cross Countryย Erik Jenkinsย took over the program inย 2019 andย during his tenure,ย the Bulls postedย twelveย program records andย 106ย top 10ย all-time program marks. USF hosted theย 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 AAC Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium, as well as the 2022 AAC Country Cross Country Championship at Holloway Park.ย
