Women’s Golf Heads To Chattanooga

TAMPA, FLA., March 31, 2023 – The USF women's golf team will take on an 18-team field this weekend in the Chattanooga Classic in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
 
The Bulls, who last competed March 10-12, will tee it up in Chattanooga on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday at Council Fire Club (Par 72, 6,234 Yards). At No. 57, the Bulls are the second-highest ranked team in the field, behind No. 28 Southern Methodist. Other teams in the field include No. 58 Minnesota, No. 63 Campbell, No. 70 Old Dominion, No. 75 Yale, No. 76 Xavier, No. 79 Colorado State, along with Augusta, Central Arkansas, Chattanooga, East Tennessee State, Grand Canyon, Indiana, Jacksonville, Middle Tennessee State, Notre Dame, and Texas-San Antonio
 
On the strength of her seventh top-ten finish of the season at the Valspar Augusta Invitational, Melanie Green has risen to No. 41 nationally.

"The team is building momentum at a great time in the season, and we are looking forward to the challenge of Council Fire Golf Club.  We'll need to keep our focus on things we can control and be laser-locked on nothing more than that.  They are rallying around one another right now in some awesome ways and they are ready to compete."
 
Last Time out
The USF women's golf team took on a field that included seven ranked teams and came away with a sixth-place finish among a 14-team field at the Valspar Augusta Invitational, which saw the third round suspended due to inclement weather. The Bulls outpaced two top-25 ranked teams, No. 16 Oklahoma State and No. 24 Duke
 
Junior Melanie Green led the Bulls with her seventh top 10 finish of the season. Green paced the Bulls with back-to-back 1-under 71's to finish in the top 10. Green carded a total of five birdies in the two rounds to finish tied for ninth in leading USF with a 2-under par total of 142.
 
About USF Women's Golf
The Bulls are in their sixth season under head coach Erika Brennan in 2022-23. USF is among the fastest rising programs in the country, as they climbed 75 spots in the national Golfstat rankings following Brennan's first season in 2018-19 and have captured three tournament titles under Brennan, while setting numerous program scoring records under her leadership. Junior standout Melanie Green has been an all-conference performer in each of her first two seasons, reached the 2022 NCAA Regionals as an individual and competed in both the U.S. Women's Open and U.S. Women's Amateur championships.
