TAMPA, Fla. (August 24, 2023) – The South Florida women's soccer team returned to the pitch on Thursday as Alabama A&M made the trip to Tampa.
Anna Sutter netted a brace as the Bulls took care of business 5-1 in front of 1,008 fans.
With the victory, South Florida improved to 2-1 on the season, while Alabama A&M fell to 0-2 on the year. USF rattled off 13 shots in each half to finish with 26 for the match. The Bulls' defense was stout and controlled the match as they limited the Bulldogs to just three shots. The USF defense held Alabama A&M to just one corner.
Gentiana Fetaj recorded the lone unassisted goal for the Bulls, as she put the defender on skates, ripped a shot between two defenders, and beat the outstretched keeper.
Notable
· The Bulls have won the only two meetings against the Bulldogs.
· Sutter's brace was the first for a USF player since 2021.
· USF did not allow a shot in the first half.
· Four different Bulls tallied a goal, Sutter (2), Fetaj,
Peyton Vincze, and
Kouri Peace.
· Four USF players notched an assist, Fetaj,
Serita Thurton,
Elyse Thornton, and
Linnea Nestor.
· The Bulls collected 14 points, the most since the 2019 squad posted 17 points against UTSA.
· Tonight's attendance of 1,008 was the 14th-largest in USF history and just the 15th time a crowd has been over 1,000.

The 2023 season marks the 17th and final for head coach Denise Schilte-Brown at the helm of the Bulls. Schilte-Brown guided South Florida to the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament in 2010 and the Bulls have made eight total postseason appearances (2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021) in the last 13 years. USF posted five consecutive seasons with a conference championship, winning the regular-season title in 2018, 2020, and 2021, while earning the tournament crown in 2017, 2019, and 2020. USF alum and Olympic Gold Medalist, Evelyne Viens, was selected fifth overall in the NWSL Draft by the Sky Blue FC, now Gotham FC. Viens was one of four Pro Bulls to participate in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
