Conference Slate Finalized for USF Men’s Basketball

IRVING, Texas (September 22, 2023) – The American Athletic Conference announced the matchups for the 2023-24 season on Friday. The University of South Florida men's basketball team is slated for 18 conference games.
 
The Bulls open the new year with the conference opener at home against the Temple Owls on Jan. 4. USF will face newcomers UAB for the first road test on Sunday, Jan. 7. The Bulls return to the Yuengling Center as the Rice Owls come to town for the first time as new members to the conference on Friday, Jan. 12. South Florida is back on the road for a showdown with AAC Tournament Champions, Memphis, on Thursday, Jan. 18.
 
On Saturday, Jan. 21, the Bulls return to Tampa for a matchup with the Wichita State Shockers. South Florida makes a trip to Philadelphia for a contest with Temple on Wednesday, Jan. 24. USF returns to the friendly confines of the Yuengling Center to welcome new conference foe UTSA on Saturday, Jan. 27.
 
South Florida ends the month of January and begins February with a two-game road stint. The Bulls take on the ECU Pirates on Wednesday, Jan. 31, followed by the North Texas Mean Green on Saturday, Feb. 3.
 
South Florida returns to Florida for a matchup with Charlotte on Tuesday, Feb. 6. The Bulls make a trip to Houston for a contest with the Rice Owls on Saturday, Feb. 10.
 
The Bulls return home for a two-game homestand. South Florida hosts Tulsa on Wednesday, Feb. 14, in the first of two meetings. The homestand ends as the 2023 Final Four participants FAU Owls come to the Yuengling Center on Sunday, Feb. 18.
 
The Bulls are back on the road on Wednesday, Feb. 21, with a return trip to Texas and a second matchup with UTSA Roadrunners. USF returns to the Sunshine State for a contest with SMU on Sunday, Feb. 25.
 
March begins with travel to North Carolina and the second matchup with Charlotte on Saturday, March 2.  On Tuesday, March 5, South Florida welcomes Tulane to Tampa for the final home game of the regular season. The regular season finale will take place at Tulsa on Saturday, March 9.
 
The American Athletic Conference Tournament will be March 13-17, inside Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

About USF Men's Basketball
The South Florida men's basketball team is led by Amir Abdur-Rahim, who was named the 11th head coach in program history on March 29, 2023. Abdur-Rahim was named the 2023 Mid-Major Coach of the Year (Hugh Durham Award) after leading Kennesaw State to its first-ever Division I NCAA Tournament berth in 2022-23. Abdur-Rahim's Kennesaw State team set an NCAA record as the fastest team to ever reach the NCAA Tournament after a one-win campaign, accomplishing the feat in a span of just three seasons. He was also named the 2022-23 NABC District 3 and ASUN Coach of the Year after leading Kennesaw State to both the regular season and tournament titles, and a school-record 26 wins.
 
USF has retired three numbers in its history: Chucky Atkins (12), Charlie Bradley (30), and Radenko Dobras (31). The Bulls have earned three NCAA tournament bids, appeared in the NIT eight times, and won the 2019 College Basketball Invitational.
