USF Falls to No. 2 FSU in Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (September 3, 2023) – The University of South Florida women's soccer team was back on the pitch on Sunday for a showdown with No. 2 ranked Florida State. Amaris Hamilton-Grein scored the lone goal for USF, but the Bulls fell to the Seminoles 5-1.

The USF defense started strong and held FSU to just three shots on goal in the first half. Unfortunately, the Seminoles found the back on the net on a Jordynn Dudley goal in the seventh minute.

Florida State scored three unanswered goals early in the second half.

Despite being down 4-0, the Bulls never stopped fighting. In the 81st minute, South Florida earned a free kick that was taken by Vivianne Bessette. Micahela Hill was on the receiving end of the corner and headed it toward Hamilton-Grein at the far post. Hamilton-Grein put a well-placed ball into the back of the net for the Bull.
The Seminoles added a late goal on a penalty kick and went on to claim a 5-1 victory.
