South Florida Falls to UTSA

SAN ANTONIO, TX., October 27, 2024 – The University of South Florida volleyball team (12-9, 8-2 AAC) fell to the UTSA Roadrunners (8-15, 2-8 AAC) on Sunday afternoon. The Bulls are now tied for first place with Rice in the AAC.
 
The Bulls lost with scores of 23-25, 25-10, 19-25, 25-21, 7-15.
 
Maria Clara Andrade stretched her double-digit kill streak to 15 matches with 15 kills. Ally Cavanaugh followed with 12 kills, while Catharina Scorza registered her first six collegiate kills.
 
Caroline Dykes dished out 38 assists, while Tatiana Johnson dished out eight. Dykes added 14 digs for her ninth double-double of the season.
 
Lia Schneider recorded 22 digs for her seventh straight 10+ dig match. Samiha Foster rounded out the double-digit digs with 10. Imani Hartfield led the Bulls with five blocks.
 
Jazeli Vandenburgh, Foster, and Schneider each served two aces.
 
After taking a four-point lead late in the opening set, UTSA fought back to take set one from South Florida.
 
The second set belonged to Bulls who coasted to a dominant 25-10 win. Four different Bulls served an ace. South Florida held UTSA to a negative hitting percentage.
 
The Roadrunners fought back from a five-point deficit to take the 2-1 set lead in the match.
 
The fourth set was a battle, with UTSA staying within four points of South Florida. The Bulls started to pull away to force a fifth set.
 
UTSA coasted to a fifth-set win.

  • Andrade stretched her double-digit kill streak to 15 matches, and Schneider stretched her double-digit dig streak to seven.
  • Dykes registered her ninth double-double of the season.
  • Andrade has led the Bulls in kills in the last six matches.

UP NEXT
South Florida will return home for its annual Volloween match On Wednesday, Oct. 30 as the Bulls welcome the Florida Atlantic Owls. The first serve is set for 6 p.m.
