Tampa, Fla. โ Nov. 14, 2024ย โ South Florida women's basketball (2-2) fell to Vanderbilt (3-0), 62-49, on Thursday night in the Yuengling Center.

Sophomore guard Vittoria Blasigh led the Bulls with a season-best 15 points and a team-high three 3-pointers. Graduate guard Mama Dembele dished out five assists and junior forward Carla Brito led USF on the glass, grabbing nine boards.

The Commodores were paced by sophomore forward Khamil Pierre's (17 points, 10 rebounds) ย double-double performance. Freshman guard Mikayla Blakes (16 points) and sophomore guard Madison Greene (15 points) rounded out the visitors who finished the night in double-digit points.

HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDED
Vanderbilt closed out the second stanza on a 10-4 scoring run, which gave the visitors an eight-point lead, 34-26 going into the break. Across the third quarter, the Commodores outscored the Bulls 20-11, leaving the score 54-37 in favor of Vanderbilt with 10 minutes to play. In the final three minutes of action, the Bulls strung together 10 unanswered points, but it wasn't enough as USF fell, 62-49.
