Bulls Add Ashley Meade as Assistant Coach

February 19, 2024

TAMPA, Fla. (February 19, 2024) – Head Coach Chris Brown and the University of South Florida women's soccer program announced the addition of Ashley Meade to the coaching staff on Monday.

Meade comes back to Tampa after a two-year stint with Campbell University. During her first season with Campbell, she helped guide the team to an 11-3-4 record and a Big South regular season title. She aided in the Camels earning one Academic All-America honor, four Academic All-District, and nine all-conference selections in her two seasons.

"Extremely blessed and excited to be able to bring one of our own back home," exclaimed Coach Brown. "Ashley's knowledge and hunger to excel at her craft will be a huge asset; but most importantly, her passion and commitment to USF athletics and the Tampa Bay community are second to none. Excited to have her rejoin the program!"

A 2021 USF graduate, Meade played four years for the Bulls and was a member of five American Athletic Conference title-winning teams that made four NCAA postseason appearances.

"Returning to USF is an incredible honor," said Coach Meade. "As a student-athlete at USF, I had the invaluable experience of winning championships and earning a degree from a prestigious University. Working alongside Chris, whose leadership and dedication to USF Women's Soccer has greatly shaped my passion for the game, is an exciting opportunity to continue the legacy of greatness that USF Women's Soccer holds.

USF and Tampa hold a special place in my heart, and I am thrilled to begin this new journey at my alma mater! Go Bulls!"

After graduating, Meade served as the director of operations. She assisted with game day management, practice, tournament operations, and daily management of the program.  USF won the 2021 AAC regular season title and advanced to the NCAA College Cup.

The 2024 season will be the first with Chris Brown at the helm. He spent the last 17 seasons as the associate head coach. Brown helped lead the Bulls to three AAC regular season titles, three AAC Tournament titles, and eight NCAA Tournament appearances – winning a conference title every year from 2017-21 while making five straight NCAA appearances during that period. Brown helped lead the Bulls to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2010, a program-record 16 wins and program-best NCAA Tournament third-round appearance in 2019, both conference regular season and tournament titles in 2020, and a string of 10 straight seasons with 10 or more wins (2012-21). Brown has helped lead the Bulls to every NCAA appearance in program history, including two appearances in the second round, and three AAC Championship Game appearances.

As associate head coach, he mentored the program's first All-American and recent USF Athletic Hall of Fame inductee Evelyne Viens, who went on to earn three total All-America honors and an Olympic gold medal with the Canadian National Team at the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo. Goalie Sydney Martinez (2020) and forward Sydny Nasello (2020 and 2021) also earned All-America honors and were among the Bulls that have earned a total of eight AAC Offensive Player of the Year, AAC Midfielder of the Year, AAC Defensive Player of the Year or AAC Goalkeeper of the Year honors. Players he has coached hold every program's individual record and most, if not all, of the top 10 marks in every category.
