TAMPA (February 3, 2024) – The University of South Florida women's tennis team (2-2) returned home on Saturday afternoon and picked up a convincing 6-1 victory over the University of North Florida (3-2). South Florida has won its both home matches to date this spring season.
The Bulls dropped the doubles point to the Ospreys, but answered by sweeping all six singles courts for the win.
"Our team responded in the right way after playing a subpar doubles point," said head coach
Cristina Moros. "We came out playing solid right away in singles and were able to keep the momentum going for the sweep. We have a couple days to make some adjustments and look forward to competing again early next week."
Not only did the Bulls sweep the Ospreys in singles, but did so in straight sets on five of the six courts.
Grace Schumacher,
Nadja Bay Christians,
Melisa Senli,
Kelly Vargas and
Marta Falceto Font each picked up victories in two sets on their respective courts.
Gargi Pawar battled back from a 3-6 loss in her first set on Court 6 to rally for a 6-4, 10-7 victory.
Bay Christians and Senli each improved to 2-0 in singles play this season.
