USF Women’s Tennis sweeps Miami Ohio

The Bulls tallied their second straight win, a 4-0 victory over the RedHawks.

TAMPA (March 1, 2024) – The University of South Florida women's tennis team (6-6) won its second straight match on Friday afternoon, a 4-0 sweep over the Miami Ohio RedHawks (5-6).

"I'm really proud of the team for taking care of business today," said head coach Cristina Moros. "We played excellent doubles points which is one of the things we have been trying to improve, and we carried that into singles. This team is really competing at a very high level and we hope to bring that same level of competitiveness into Sunday's match against a tough Penn team."

In the doubles competition, South Florida tallied the team point with two impressive wins over the RedHawks. Ireland Simme and Marta Falceto Font secured the first double match, 6-2, on Court 2 while Grace Schumacher and Nadja Bay Christians wrapped up the pairings with a 6-3 win on Court 1.

The Bulls carried that momentum into singles play by taking all but one opening set across six courts.

USF captured victories from Falceto Font (6-2; 6-0) on Court 3 and Simme (6-3; 6-1) on Court 6. Schumacher ultimately clinched the win for the Bulls in a 7-5 tiebreaker win on Court 1. All three singles courts were decided in straight sets.
