USF Track and Field Flies West for Mt. SAC Relays

Bulls look to continue outdoor season momentum in premiere California meet.

Tampa, Fla. April 18, 2024 – The University of South Florida track and field flew out west to Walnut, Calif. on Wednesday ahead of the Mt. SAC Relays.
 
The team traveled all their main sprinters and hurdlers, four athletes to compete in jumps, and three pole vaulters.
 
The men's team ranks sixth in the nation, with five top-ten marks. The women's team has four top-25 marks.

TRACK
The 100m dash will see Zayquan Lincoln, Jaleel Croal, and the Division I NCAA leader Abdul-Rasheed Saminu (9.95w) compete for the men. The women will race Zahria Allers-LiburdGianna Hansen, and Lynette Scutari.
 
In the 200m dash, the men will race Saminu, Croal, Shevioe ReidNathan MetelusTre'Sean Bouie, and Lincoln. The women will run Allers-Liburd, Scutari, Terren Peterson, and Je'Nyia Burton.

For the 400m dash, South Florida's men will run Bouie, Reid, Metelus, Gabriel MorontaDaunte O'BanionAidan Dixon, and Darian Mills. The women will run Allers-Liburd, Burton, Peterson, and Amenda Saint Louis.

In the 800m, Amenda Saint Louis will run for the women.

Both genders will travel their full squads for the 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay.
 
The men currently hold the fourth-fastest 4x100m in the nation (39.03) from Lincoln, Metelus, Croal, and Saminu as well as the sixth-fastest 4x400m relay from Reid, Moronta, Metelus, and Bouie (3:02.16).
 
The women are just as present in the nation's top-25 relay rankings, Allers-Liburd, Peterson, Burton, and Benjamin have the 17th-ranked 4x100m time in the nation (44.05) and the 10th-ranked 4x400m relay time (3:30.77).
 
Tyler Drew, Michael Bourne III, and Markel Jones will run the 110m hurdles for the men. In the 100m hurdles, Hansen will run for the Bulls.
 
The men are sending Devontie Archer, Jones, Bourne III, Mills, and Drew to compete in the 400m hurdles.
 
FIELD
In the pole vault, the men are sending Kobe Babin (12th in NCAA, 5.40m/17' 8.50") and Noah Bitter. The women will send Madeline Dutz.
 
In long jump, Goodness Iredia will compete for the men. The women are sending Mimansa Dahiya and Benjamin to jump.

In the triple jump, the men will send Iredia and the women, Dahiya and Annia Ashley.

In high jump, the women are sending Ashley.
 
UP NEXT
The sprinters and hurdlers will fly up to Philadelphia, Pa. for the Penn Relays on April 25-27, while the jump and throw athletes will be at the University of North Florida on the same dates for a separate meet.

The USF track and field men's team won the 2024 Indoor AAC Championship. Romaine Beckford won the 2023 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Championships in the men's high jump as a Bull. The team has earned 56 All-America selections and at least one All-American in 10 of the last 12 years, including a record eight athletes claiming 11 honors in 2021. Tampa native Shaniya Benjamin set a program record earning three All-American honors during the 2021 outdoor season, while triple jumper Matthew O'Neal, a 2016 graduate, became USF's first six-time NCAA All-American. Bulls have posted two NCAA runner-up finishes since 2013 - O'Neal (triple jump, 2016) and Courtney Anderson (high jump, 2013). Head coach Erik Jenkins took over the program in 2020 and in the 2021 outdoor season the Bulls posted seven program records and 40 top 10 all-time program marks. USF hosted the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 AAC Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium located on the east end of campus.
