Bulls drop final two road matches

USF was defeated at Wichita State, 4-3, and at Tulsa, 4-2 over the weekend.

TAMPA (April 7, 2024) – The University of South Florida Bulls (9-15) dropped the final two road matches of their regular season slate with setbacks at Wichita State on Friday, 4-3, and Tulsa, 4-2, on Sunday.

The Shockers edged the Bulls in doubles action, forcing USF to play catchup in singles play. The Bulls nearly pulled out a comeback victory, but the match was decided in favor of the home team on the final court.

Erik Grevelius held off his opponent on Court 2, 6-0, 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, while Bruno Oliveira and Agustin Cuellar won in straight sets on Courts 5 and 6, respectively.

On Sunday, the Bulls earned the doubles point over the Golden Hurricane. No. 51 Grevelius and Alvin Tudorica took down the No. 38-ranked team in the country, 6-3, on Court 1. Oliveira and Ben Hudson secured the point with a 6-2 victory on Court 2.

Cuellar was the lone Bull to tally a singles win at Tulsa as the home team rallied to defeated USF. Cuellar improved to 11-6 in singles play this season.

Grevelius and Tudorica stand at 13-6 this year on doubles Court 1.

The Bulls wrap up the regular season back home in a clash with Florida Athletic on Wednesday, April 10 at 1:30 p.m. in Tampa. USF will then return to Tulsa for the AAC Championship Tournament on April 18-21.
