TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 28, 2024 – South Florida men's soccer (0-1-1) hosts Division II Eckerd (0-0) at Corbett Stadium on Thursday night at 7 p.m. and the match will stream live on ESPN+.

SETTING THE STAGE
USF continues the hunt for its first victory and home win of the 2024 season. The Bulls lost their season opener against No. 23 Seattle, 4-1, and tied Mercer, 0-0, in their first two games of the year. Eckerd (0-0) enters after playing a pair of scrimmages and the game will count as an exhibition for the Tritons.

SOUTH FLORIDA-ECKERD SERIES
The South Florida and Eckerd series extends back to 1968, Thursday night's pairing will be the first since 1986 and the 12th all-time meeting. The Bulls hold a 9-2 advantage against the Tritons in the series. In 1986, USF topped Eckerd, 5-0.

SCOUTING THE TRITONS
The Tritons finished the 2023 campaign with a 5-6-4 record last season and were selected to finish 10th in the 2024Â Sunshine State Conference preseason poll. Head Coach Joe Ilett begins his first season at the helm of the program.

The Bulls have their first road test of the season on Monday, Sept. 2, as they will face UNC Wilmington. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and the matchup will stream live on FloSports.

USF Men's Soccer competed in the school's first-ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3. Since then, the oldest program on campus has built a winning tradition, claiming 14 conference championships and making 22 NCAA Tournament appearances, including 3 trips to the elite eight.

Notable alumni include two-time MLS Golden Boot winner Jeff Cunningham, USA 1994 World Cup star Roy Wegerle, and 2013 MLS Cup winner Dom Dwyer. Men's Soccer has two Alumni and a coach in the USF Athletics Hall of Fame: Fergus Hopper and Jeff Attinella, & Dan Holcomb. Cunningham has also been selected to join the USF Athletics Hall of Fame this Fall.
The Bulls have reached the NCAA Tournament 13 times over the past 22 seasons.
